Southern Hemp’s Hemping Hands volunteer experience is heading to Castlemaine, offering a rare opportunity to get real hands-on experience building with hempcrete. Led by David Brian, this immersive experience invites volunteers to step onto a live building site and learn the practical side of hemp construction from one of Australia’s most experienced hemp builders.
Whether you’re a builder, designer, owner-builder, sustainability enthusiast, or simply curious about natural building, this is a chance to learn by doing. You’ll help mix, move, place, and tamp hempcrete into wall formwork while gaining insight into the full hemp wall installation process. No prior experience is required—just a good attitude, willingness to get involved, and clothes suitable for building site work.
By joining a Hemping Hands event, you’re contributing to more than just a house. Hempcrete locks carbon into the building fabric for the long term while creating breathable, highly insulated walls that support healthier living.
